Improve it. It should have better codecs to play videos better. I have the same problem with VLC, but it is better. You should improve on message of damaged media.

My favourite is Realplayer. And it can not even compete with free GOM or Quicktime. What I mean by damaged media is that Realplayer plays every type of media, whereas GOM looks for new codecs, saving disk space by installing only neccesary ones. But this does not offer those features, and I won't regard it good to try, and not to use.
